poll conducted in the middle of September showed McKenney with 34 per cent support, the same number as July. Former broadcaster Mark Sutcliffe was at 20 per cent, up from 15 per cent in July. Chiarelli’s support had risen to 11 per cent, up from seven. The poll showed 24 per cent of voters as undecided. It’s considered accurate to +/- 3.5 percentage points 19 times out of 20.Sign up to receive daily headline news from Ottawa Citizen, a division of Postmedia Network Inc.
It’s difficult to argue that Chiarelli is the better choice. Yes, the former mayor does have decades of political experience, but the Bob Chiarelli of 2022 is not the Bob Chiarelli of 2006, the last time he held the job. It’s not just his age, 81. It’s actually his ideas that are out of sync with the Bob Chiarelli that we knew. Chiarelli was once good with facts and figures, but much of his platform lacks the cohesive, detailed approach one would have expected.
For example, Chiarelli would throw out the city’s greenhouse gas reduction program. At a cost of $32 billion over 28 years, he says it’s financially unsustainable. That’s a fair comment, but he suggests a series of uncosted ideas with unspecified benefits to replace it.Article content
Incompetent!
And Bob is smart enough NOT to be endorsed by Lisa McFraud.
I guess Bob didn't want an appointment to the Parole Board.
A little reminder that Bob_Chiarelli announced he was running nine months ahead of the unqualified former broadcaster. If anyone is splitting the vote it's _MarkSutcliffe
Lol randall Denley what a waste of time reading anything that guy writes is. All the Watson club stumping for mark suttcliffe.
If we had ranked ballots Bob_Chiarelli would be on mine. Not my first pick, but I'd support him for mayor. Sutcliffe wouldn't get my vote. It's disappointing anyone suggests Bob withdraw. Bob is a viable choice who brings experience and ideas. Can't say that about Sutcliffe.
I'm not voting for either of those goofs.
bob’s the best for so many reasons 😍
Without polling you have no basis for conjecture.
TheOfficialEric Denley is 100% right. Chiarelli will split the moderates. Bob needs to enjoy his retirement. He has no chance of winning. Just pull out.
If a 'lurch to the left' means better transit, more trees planted, more value for money in city services and development policies, workers paid a fair wage, and investment in both market and affordable housing development, then lurch away. Sounds like a better Ottawa.
To McKenney?
Let’s vote for Mark, Bob is not serious!
With 2/3 of Ittawa voters strongly opposing McKenney’s weak socialist appeal, it’s a shame to feel our Council will shift to the left with a conservative split. We can thank Chiarelli for painting us red.
This is not good.
A vote for Bob_Chiarelli is a vote for cmckenney It’s that simple. Bob has zero chance of winning ottcity Mayor’s race but could help Catherine get elected. Choose wisely.
A Mckenney win will be devastating for Ottawa.
Yes, this is the perfect storm. Chirelli’s taking votes from better candidates allowing the Horizon forces to push the fifth best option into the Mayor’s seat. I’m considering truly greener pastures away from her meddling nonsense.
Shocker: Randall Denley who is a vocal supporter of Mark Sutcliffe and a twice loser to Bob Chiarelli is blaming Chiarelli for entering the race first and having Sutcliffe split the Center. Why post this obvious crap
