The daughter of a man who died following a six-hour police standoff in Langley prompted by a wellness check is seeking answers about her father’s death. Don Bennett, 66, had been living in an RV parked in a rented space on a farm in the 23000-block of 0 Avenue for about a decade, often seen walking his dog or riding his horses when he wasn’t working delivering trailers in B.C. and Alberta. Bennett’s life ended Friday after a fire erupted in a barn at around 10:40 p.m.
Police said the man had barricaded himself inside, didn’t come out and is believed to have died in the blaze. “I would like confirmation that he is actually deceased,” said an emotional Nicky McIntosh on Monday. “I’d like to know a timeline on how all of this went down and why the decisions that were made were made.” McIntosh got a phone call from police at around 9 p.m. on Friday asking for information that would help de-escalate a situation involving her father. “We don’t know how long the standoff had been going on or what the details are around it,” she sai
