On Monday, the B.C. Ministry of Health did not release data on COVID-19 deaths over the past few days, deciding instead to release that information on Thursday.

This is the first time the ministry has withheld this information and gave no reason why. As of last Thursday, 3,002 people in B.C. had died from causes related to COVID-19. The number of people in hospital either because of COVID-19 or with the disease grew 17 per cent over the past three days to 321. Of those cases, 36 are being treated in intensive care.Article contentFour hundred and eighty nine first doses of vaccine were administered over the past three days, and 6,246 third shots were administered.

The Special Investigations Unit was looking into police behaviour during the large-scale police operation to disperse the protests in downtown Ottawa that gridlocked the city’s downtown for more than three weeks. The blockades, which at times also shuttered several border crossings, were demanding an end to all COVID-19 mandates, but some protesters also wanted to force the Liberal government out of office.Article content
