Due to travel restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, some immigrants are unable to live and work in Canada despite receiving confirmation of permanent residency.

. Points may be gained through a variety of different ways including skills, English proficiency and educational requirements.that would help up to 90,000 immigrants come to Canada.“This isn’t just about giving people a new piece of paper. We’re creating a pathway for newcomers that will strengthen their job security, expand their career horizons and encourage them to put down deeper roots in our communities where they are giving back,” Mendicino said.

Mendicino did tout his government’s decision to create new pathways, but was not asked about COPR holders during the press conference.Since 2018, Mishra has been planning to resettle his family in Canada by entering the country through the express entry route. Mishra convinced his employer to transfer him to their Canadian location in Toronto. In March, he sold his home and car, wrapped up his daughter’s school year and moved to an AirBnB with his family. With tickets to Canada in hand, hotels booked for quarantine and temporary housing already secured, Mishra was under the assumption that if the Canadian government put an expiry date on a travel document, like his COPR, they would then also allow him to enter the country in that timeframe.

Moving to Ontario for work is not just beneficial for Mishra, but to Canada, according to Kareem El-Assal, Director of Policy at CanadaVisa.com, an immigration law firm. El-Assal says Canada has an aging population with nearly nine million people of the baby boomer generation set to be eligible for retirement by 2030. Before we plung in conversation to stop immigration, note these are skilled immigrants (not Asylum) invited by Canada to fulfil the demand of 🇨🇦 growth. They have degrees, high proficiency in English, bring in quite a lot of $s and are required by Canada to fulfill skill gap.

And ? People are dying

Doesn't 500,000 immigrants coming into country over only 2 years that has 38million people sound like a lot?

GlobalNational The Government makes it very hard for us to follow its Domestic rules when there Blind Eye let's the Virus come in the Back Door , and they wonder why there is such a Rebellion from us Canadians when it comes to Lock Downs , Nothing But A Fucking Joke.

Sorry, but immigration should not be taking place during a worldwide pandemic.

We r in a pandemic so that’s expected STOP THE DRAMA

A silver lining.

Not the time, wait until pandemic is under control and Canadians vaccinated.

Covid-19 is impacting every single thing in the world right now why wouldn't immigration be on the list of things it's impacting🙄

I just want to point out that some of us who are waiting for the borders to reopen are also fully vaccinated against Covid-19. I understand the concerns, but there’s no reason to keep us waiting that long since international students are being allowed to enter the country...

Immigrants should not be coming into Canada right now. This is not priority. Canada needs too take care of it Citizens first for once

No jobs, healthcare overwhelmed, housing on the rise and we bring in more immigrants

I think the government should take a long hard look about immigration. We have we have a meth crisis we have many people on the streets let's take care of us first. Now with the pandemic this makes absolutely no sense there should be a stop to immigration right now.

The border should stay closed until ever single current Canadian has had at least their first vaccine dose.

Although it is unfortunate, our Government needs to look after existing Canadians and we need to get through this pandemic before opening borders to everyone including immigrants.

While immigration lawyers have nothing else to do, the government of Canada may have higher priorities at this time.

They have jobs ready, finances ready, speak multiple languages and completed the immigration process properly. These people are Canadian and are the people we want here. They should be front of the line, covid or not.

Immigration lawyers make their money doing?... a deadly pandemic is raging and their agenda is $$$...immigration numbers!

Your scam is up. All of us can see from other places that there is no real v1r-us emergency. Texas is 100% open and NOBODY IS DYING. The only emerg3ncy I see when I go outside is a new satan1c cult of fear and destruction.

Who the fu ck cares- Canadians and Canada First!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All these cases are real and well recognized. At the same time, new immigrants should realize the unforeseen circumstances which are beyond governments control..there is no justification for a potential immigrant to sell their assets before final decision and lawyers are causing

It’s impacting citizens trying to get into the country
