Finance Minister Bill Morneau said Friday that the federal government will soon announce support for Canadians who are quarantined to prevent the spread of the virus known as COVID-19.He also said the government will increase its risk adjustment provision in its forthcoming budget to ensure that it is ready and able to respond to COVID-19, which has caused dramatic drops in the stock market and has sickened dozens of Canadians and thousands more globally.
Asked following his speech what those tools are, Morneau would only say: "We have the capacity to both help businesses if they go through challenges, if that happens, or individuals if they find themselves either having to be away from work for a short period of time or a longer period of time." The Bank of Canada cut its key interest rate target by half a percentage point on Wednesday in hopes of helping the country's economy cope with the impact of COVID-19. The move followed a decision by the U.S. Federal Reserve to cut its key interest rate by the same amount on Tuesday.
That's a solid way to enhance the economy. Where do they come up with this shit.

CTV needs to ask JustinTrudeau why all taxpayers should compensate these people (who can afford to travel outside Canada) just because they were unlucky and got sick. How are Canadians responsible for this?

Everything is money! Damn, these people are buying votes. But then 14 days quarantine, loss of pay? Looks good. But again, what if they considered COV an opportunity to distribute money? Maybe that is why the lax, eh?
How is this going to work, you need a doctors note, or me saying I self quarantined makes me qualify for a cheque. I say let’s not be to hasty here and let’s play wait and see. This COVID-19 virus hasn’t been given the all clear yet.
Not just compensation, we also need to know what steps are being taken to stop the further spread of this virus.

Why are they being paid for catching a virus I am getting tired of our govt stealing our tax dollars and using them like this. I may stop paying taxes since our govt is doing nothing with it and giving our money away,.
The government needs to be very careful because while there are relatively few people to compensate now there could be many more if the virus spreads.
Smart call. This virus is going to be impossible to contain if everyone living paycheck-to-paycheck /no paid sick leave are left to fend for themselves. People *will* work while sick if paying their rent depends on it. Compensation will make quarantines more effective.
