Five McGill University students and their professor are stranded in Morocco after their flight home was cancelled when the country suspended all international passenger flights as a protective measure against COVID-19.

Last Updated Monday, March 16, 2020 11:56AM EDTMONTREAL -- Five McGill University students and their professor are stranded in Morocco after their flight home from Casablanca was cancelled when the country suspended all international passenger flights as a protective measure against COVID-19.

The group says it has tried desperately to contact the Canadian embassy in Rabat, the capital of Morocco, but no one seems ready to help them. "Each year, the students organize an international field trip," he explained. "The idea is we will move through the country and look at the geology." Just in case, the group has booked an apartment in Casablanca until mid-April, adding if they can't get a flight home, they'll have enough provisions to last until things calm down.

Why the hell did they travel during global.pandemic! How entitled!

Should have been home long ago.. Your stupidity is not our problem anymore.

Bad planning in his part

Stay put in Morocco is probably safer than stick with the crowd in the airports

I think they may over pay that professor.

Why is it up to the government to bring Canadians home when they choose to ignore the signs in front of their faces. This virus just didn't pop up and took us by surprise. If your stupid ass went travelling when this started, find your own way home. Stupidity is not an excuse.

So I guess you stay there...

Have 0 sympathy. They chose to go during a pandemic. When they get home they should immediately be sent to sable island for 21 days.

Awful but wait it out!! I’d go back off the beaten path if I were them

For all those who judge before reading: “Since they were travelling 'off the beaten path' for much of the time, the group says it only found out Friday about how intense the situation had gotten, with countries calling for lockdowns and politicians demanding for closed borders.”

The professor knew about travel bans everywhere and took these students on a trip. Why should we worry about how to bring them back. As a parent I wouldn't of let my kids go on this trip. You are on your own good luck

Was it worth it?

I just knew it. Victims again. Risks were clearly communicated. You are not stranded. You are in Morocco. Wait, that’s all you can do

This prof is a complete tool bag

Social distancing

Nobody’s fault but their own at this point.

Morocco has one of the lowest COVID-19 rates on earth. They may want to just sit tight and relax for a few weeks.

there are risks associated with travel ... they will manage

The curse of the Wuhan virus.

The professor is disturbed by the response from our politicians? I'm disturbed you took kids out of the country during a pending pandemic. It's not like our politicians don't already have enough on their plates.

Should have come back long ago

Ohwell deal with it, ya knew weeks ago to come home, your own situation is your own doing now deal with it by yourselves as you chose to stay.

Be happy you’re even still alive, let alone stuck there 😂

What were they thinking.?

They went 2 weeks ago... No sympathy from me when you see this shit all over the news and then travel anyways.
