With COVID-19 now assumed to be spreading in the community, Ottawa’s medical officer of health appealed to city residents Sunday to stay home and to strictly limit social gatherings of any kind.
So far, all of those diagnosed with COVID-19 in Ottawa were infected while travelling — or else through close contact with someone who came back with the disease. “Therefore, I’m asking today that people strengthen their social distancing measures … I mean that people should stay home unless there’s an essential reason to take a trip to the grocery store, to the pharmacy, to look after an ill friend or family member.”
“This really is about decreasing the peak number or infections at one time so our health system can manage,” Etches said. Taking concerted action now, she added, will allow the city to get through the COVID-19 pandemic with “less harm.” “We have a health care system that’s functioning right now and we want to keep it that way,” she said.

Oh wow, you mean Canada ISN’T super special and therefore also isn’t the only country on the planet that wasn’t seeing community spread? Literally NOBODY could possibly have seen this coming! Z
Too late! Canada isn’t doing much since the very beginning! Not testing people who didn’t travel is a huge mistake! Trudeau is taking that very lightly! Pearson airport is a madhouse full of passengers arriving from all different places all together in the huge immigration line!
Because of community spread at this point, Gov should order all entertainment facilities, restaurants, bars and fitness centers closed.
If i go in to a hospital today, with Covid, I am not eligible to be screened because i haven't travelled, or been in contact with someone who did. So, there are huge loopholes.
Well the current screenings are only for people who have travelled, so community spread is not being monitored or controlled
I bet she feels stupid for recently suggesting people should go out to restaurants 🤦♂️
