This is good news as the province tries to convince more people to get immunized.

There were 2,425 new cases of the disease reported over the past four days — an average of 606 a day — and there are now 5,465 active cases . The number of cases fell slightly over the four day period from 695, to 634, to 563 and then 533 on Monday. The seven-day average daily case count appears to be plateauing.The number of people in hospital climbed 40 patients to 255, of which just under half are being treated in intensive care.

Fifteen people died during thefour-day period bringing that toll to 1,842 since the first death reported in B.C. in March 2020. Of the recent deaths, six were in Interior Health, four in Island Health, three in Fraser Health and two in Vancouver Coastal Health. Interior Health continues to account for most of the cases in B.C., reporting 838 cases over the four days, however, Fraser Health is catching up, reporting 705 cases over the same period. Vancouver Coastal Health accounted for 368 cases, followed by Northern Health with 312 cases and Island Health with 202 cases.et the latest COVID-19 news delivered to your inbox weeknights at 7 p.m.
