After flaming out at the World Cup in Qatar in 2022, Canada has qualified for Copa America, the South American soccer championship that includes some of the best nations in the world.Canada's Alphonso Davies, No. 19, and Jonathan David, No. 20, are seen celebrating Davies's goal during the CONCACAF Nations League quarterfinal last November. They are among 26 players selected to the Canadian men's soccer team that will play in this year's Copa America.
Canada, which is 49th in the FIFA world rankings, is one of six qualifiers from CONCACAF that were invited to the event. Mexico and the U.S. also qualified.With the exception of a few tweaks, the Canadian roster will look much like the one that played at the World Cup. Familiar faces include international stars like Alphonso Davies , Jonathan David and Tajon Buchanan .
Jesse Marsch, seen during his time as manager of Leeds United, will coach the Canadian men's soccer team through July 2026. "They have someone that is a real tactician, someone that connects with players, that thinks differently about the game," Dunlop said. "He has already shown he can adapt on the fly, which is something that the Canadian national teams have been criticized for. I think you're going to see this team become even more exciting."
