Construction Begins on New Residential Building at 110 Pim Street

Work is underway on the construction of a new residential building on the site of the former Tara Hall apartments at 110 Pim Street .

A post made Thursday on the SalDan Construction Group Facebook page notes progress is underway for the 108 units expected to be completed by fall of 2024. "Things are getting started at 110 Pim Street!" the post reads. "Keep an eye out for more progress on this one." When it was announced in 2020, the project was touted as a $20-million, 103-unit residential development to be built behind the Algonquin Hotel.“I believe the city could use these units in the downtown area," Perzia told SooToday at the time. "It’s a beautiful location. I don’t think there is any better location than that."

Tara Hall was the oldest apartment building in Sault Ste. Marie when fire struck on Nov. 2, 1987. It was boarded up and left vacant, eventually leaving behind only the foundation, which some referred to as the Sault's Stonehenge.
