Colby Cosh: There's an easy way to find out if we're all pandemic-drinking. But who wants to know?

There has been a lot of hand-wringing and fretting by physicians about liquor and weed usage during the pandemic among us caged mammals, and it wouldn’t be too surprising if we were imbibing more collectively. For perhaps the first time, somebody in a high professional position seemed to be implying the existence of actual pertinent evidence.

Fletcher also identified a totally separate “slip of the tongue” on the part of Hinshaw, who had cited a Nanos poll taken for a substance-abuse think tank in May and published June 9. She mentioned the headline finding, which had been that “and have been staying at home more due to the COVID-19 pandemic say they have been drinking alcohol once a day since the beginning of May.

And yet! Information on alcohol sales volumes is obviously of sincere and overwhelming interest, since about 94 per cent of us really have been in a state of nerve-wracking asocial confinement for months. Which brings me to my real point: namely, that the AGLC is pretty obviously pulling someone’s leg.

The Alberta government’s liquor distribution warehouse in St. Albert, which is operated by Connect Logistics. That “ad hoc” part would sound more troubling, no doubt, if we weren’t in the midst of a pandemic that has seen public health officials quasi-criminalize a thousand varieties of ordinary behaviour while flying almost exclusively by the tattered seats of their pants.

No longer care! Everyone has to do what is right for them. I saw where Tam and the WHO are concerned about pandemic drinking but I don’t believe a word either says and much less trust my government so they can all buggeroff 🍻🍷🥃🍹

Cases of beer, hard liquor and wine stacked in the hallway is a dead give away.
