Protesters who are opposed to the construction of the Coastal GasLink natural gas pipeline block tracks

Canadian National Railway Co said on Tuesday it would be forced to shut down significant parts of its Canadian rail network unless blockades on its rail lines are removed.

The blockades ensued from demonstrations by protesters who are opposed to the construction of the Coastal GasLink natural gas pipeline. Blockades near Belleville, Ont., on CN’s only eastern link between Western Canada and Eastern Canada and between Eastern Canada and the U.S. Mid-West and on CN’s northern mainline in B.C. between Prince George and Prince Rupert, “are impacting all Canadians’ ability to move goods and enable trade,” CN said in a statement.

“There are currently no movements of any trains, freight or passenger, at both those locations. Hundreds of trains have been canceled since the blockades began five days ago. The impact is also being felt beyond Canada’s borders and is harming the country’s reputation as a stable and viable supply chain partner.”

“It’s not just passenger trains that are impacted by these blockades, it’s all Canadian supply-chains” said JJ Ruest, president and chief executive officer at CN. “We are currently parking trains across our network, but due to limited available space for such, CN will have no choice but to temporarily discontinue service in key corridors unless the blockades come to an end.

I kind of hope they build the pipeline and then a structural failure happens causing the pipe to explode and kills or permanently disables 90% of their employees. Forcing them to pay trillions in insurance and environmental damage fees, putting them out of business for life

Jail em. Or force em to get jobs.

Shut down everything to Quebec. They're the only ones this government cares about.

ID the protestors. Confirm their home addresses. Shut off their natural gas. FebruaryinCanada

Then they'd be wise to settle the dispute.

Arrest them all

Get this fixed BillBlair and JustinTrudeau You’re allowing a small group of paid protesters to hold a country hostage. We’re a global laughing stock!

Remove & Arrest the protestors! Like wtf? The RCMP picks and chooses what laws to enforce?

Time to call in the army across this country. This is ridiculous and where is our Prime Minister? He should have made a statement. This is a crisis situation

Tree huggers ruin canada

The rcmp or opp do not give a shit.

As always in Canada, the tail wags the dog.

alan_poirier What are they wait for?

Too bad JT is on his way to Barbados still trying to secure that useless UN seat that no one asked for or wants. You know, focusing on the important things. Everything is just peachy here at home in Canada.

Police are breaking their oath.....O'Canada what have you done

Why is this anarchy allowed? Those protesters should all be carded. I wonder how many of them are actually Canadians and how many are from US paid to do so by “interested” parties. The native leaders provided permission, so why is this allowed?

No pipelines, no rail service, no trains...no PM. What the heck is happening to Canada?

Just like the un-policed homeless in California. This is coming to Canada:

According to the grand jury report of six dioceses in Pennsylvania, over a period of 70 years, 300 priests abused over 1,000 children in Pennsylvania and church officials repeatedly covered it up.

“You’re such a puritan,” Andrew told a friend who urged him to cut ties with Epstein, according to a 2011 Vanity Fair report. “Leave me alone. Jeffrey’s my friend. Being loyal to your friends is a virtue. And I’m going to be loyal to him.”

What’s with the gas cans? Starting fires there are we?

Lakefield’s own independent investigators concluded in 2015 that the disgraced chaplain violated “the trust and authority” of his position and “afflicted harm on innocent students by engaging in sexual misconduct.”

If i left my car on the street in winter, it would be forcibly removed (towed). If you park downtown Toronto in rush hour on certain streets - towed. Park on rail tracks and call it a ‘protest’ - nothing.

I thought the 2 national railways have their own full time police force to patrol and enforce the laws of the land on their tracks...something smells here, they are happy to ticket motorists for disobeying the law near tracks They wouldn’t be standing down to scuttle pipelines?

Why don't the police just do their jobs and arrest these vagrants.

CN can have its own protest. Shut down all operations until officials remove the protesters. When the railway stops everything stops.

When are you guys going to reroute the tracks

This won’t end until propane supplies in Quebec start to drop.

Just run them over. Who cares if they get hurt.

canada stupid

Canada should defund RCMP who is lawless and useless

Will Quebec freeze again because of this?

It’s working. Power to the people.

Indigenous rail blockades cause chaos for Ontario travellers, commutersRCMP officers there have been arresting people for breaching a court injunction related to opposition to the 670-kilometre Coastal GasLink pipeline I use to sympathize for their ancestors, they lived honestly off the land and took pride. This gen, want everything for nothing. What they do contribute is their lack of ambition to do something productive with their lives. Get off the road and get a job! So tired of the Indigenous BS. No doubt, it’s a few bad apples making everyone look bad. Arrest them and if convicted they should be ineligible for government cheques. And to be fair extend that to all Canadians. No more tax payers money to any convicted criminals.
