Why target Putin and his oligarchs but not their soccer and hockey teams?

As someone who believes sport can sometimes transcend politics, allowing individuals and teams to compete in good faith and good spirits even while their

respective governments are at war, I wish I had an answer. But I don’t. Russian athletes will continue to suffer under Putin’s thumb just like everyone else.
