China’s commerce ministry said in a statement that it will take all necessary measures to protect its rights

China ’s commerce ministry on Thursday said it firmly objects to the United States raising tariffs on Chinese steel and aluminium products and will take all necessary measures to protect its rights.

“We urge the U.S. to face up to its own problems, stop raising tariffs on Chinese products, and immediately lift the additional tariffs on China,” a spokesperson for the ministry said in a statement. The spokesperson said the measures are typical “unilateralism and protectionism,” which China opposes.

“The U.S. pressure on other countries to restrict Chinese products will undermine the security and stability of global industrial and supply chains.”
