Chess tourney supports youth mental health b(7 photos)/b

Players of all ages and skill levels put their chess skills to the test Tuesday in the Mind Over Matter tournament, with proceeds going to the Sault Area Hospital’s Child and Adolescent Psychiatry unit.

Prizes were donated by ASAPP OXP and the use of the venue was donated by The Machine Shop. Village Media donated the chess sets. “I’m not playing today but I played in a tournament two weeks ago in Grand Rapids,” said Pierman. “I am having fun hosting it and it’s for a good cause. I am really passionate about mental health.”

“They are going to be getting some stuff to help patients and staff there. It’s going to be awesome,” he said.
