Campbell held the hot hand for the Knights, scoring the winning goals in both games Nov. 20. Campbell, who was set up by Evan Nicholson, scored at 13:44 of overtime against Saint John, and his second-period goal opened a 4-1 lead over Fredericton.

Beck, who said rookie Knights goaltender Hudson Bradley “stood tall” in the semifinal game, acknowledged the Knights went in with a goal of winning the Monctonian based on their regular-season performance so far.“I think our start to the season allowed us to have that as our focus,” said Beck. “We are proud of our program, proud of the players that we have as part of it. We are excited with our start.

“I’m just ecstatic for our group. We had two goalies that played an even amount this weekend, six D that contributed and four lines that all did their roles. We are really proud of the kids; they deserve to be the champions this weekend.”Beck and Campbell both attributed the team’s success to a total team effort. Campbell said the Knights played great as a team, and every player focused on their responsibilities and paid attention to detail.
