As of later this week, passengers who have cleared security will be able to sit outside the airport as they await their flight, making it the first airport in Canada to introduce outdoor seating. The details of the unique waiting area were highlighted during the authority’s annual general meeting on May 7, one of many planned for the terminal over the next three years as part of a total facelift for the interior and exterior of the airport – at a cost of $40 million.

You don’t have to heat it or cool it on a year-round basis. It adds to the outdoor experience.”
“We’re certainly constrained in a lot of pinch points as you walk through the terminal building so it will be open and airy and that is what the public will see.”The renovations over the next three years will change the landscape of the airport and is a big project for such a small facility. “We anticipate the proposed terminal expansion will be a topic of discussion ,” Deagle said. “We recognize the importance of the airport. This airport has surpassed every airport in growth. It’s the fastest-growing airport in Canada.”
