Keep talking about injustice, Bo Horvat says. The world won't get better without doing so.

What should we do? they asked.

“Speaking up in the community, speaking up when there’s stuff going on on social media, which I’ve done in the past, sometimes it is touchy subjects that I’ve had to deal with over the last three years that people haven’t in the past,” he said. “I think it’s just made me better as a person and as a captain.”

Brad Baker, a district principal and Indigenous education leader for the North Vancouver school district and a member of the Squamish Nation, commended Horvat. On top of his own innate curiosity, something that he had when he was young but that he’s realized is a powerful tool as he’s matured into adulthood, he’s drawn from lessons he learned from the Sedins.

“He’s not only a great hockey player, but he’s an amazing person,” he said, then noted that this was unlikely to be a shocking revelation.Article content
