A Canadian man serving a life sentence in a Florida prison for first-degree murder wants to serve the remainder of his time in a Canadian facility. Watch W5's Plea of Mercy Saturday at 7 p.m.

William Davies, centre, poses with his parents, Richard Davies, right, and Carol Davies as they visit their son in a Florida prison in this April 2015 handout photo. CARRABELLE, FLA -- Russell Davies was a troubled 17 year old, but nothing prepared his Richmond Hill, Ont., parents for what would happen after he stole his boss’s car, his mother’s credit card and disappeared in 1986.He is now 51, and in his 33rd year of his life sentence, with a presumptive parole date of 2041.

There is an International Transfer of Offender Act between Canada and the U.S. ,which allows for it. Davies request has been rejected by a Florida governor twice, and a third application is pending before a new state governor. Our movements were driven by protocol and rules. Camera equipment had to be itemized and screened; there were restrictions on items we could bring into the institution; no purses or cellphones.

What happened next was unprecedented. The warden ordered the bus to stop at a prison midway. He then sent a van to collect Davies and bring him back to Franklin Correctional Institution.

So why didn’t they transport him back to Canada for the theft of car and credit cards? Shouldn’t he have been transported back then to Canada to answer to the original charges of theft?

You did the crime in the States, you were found guilty, you lost your rights when you broke the law. You put yourself in prison. So shut up and do your time.

Leave him there

I am so sick and tired of terrorists and criminals using Canada as a escape.. Our leader is a fool.. Along with all his supporters.

Well I say yes, bring him home and release him back into society. Also, lets give him $10 million for the last 30 years. GTFO

You just have know that, if he makes it here, Canada will Let him out. Is it any wonder why the transfer keeps getting refused?

He should serve his sentence where he was convicted, and not on Canadian Tax Payers $$ . As for if he is guilty or not , that’s something he has to deal with in Florida, not Canada anyway

Why should Canadian taxpayers pay for this guy? The crime was committed in the US.

So he can get out of jail free like Omar Khader and have a Trudeau pay him a whack of our cash

Like hell!

Really, you want me to ot for your lodging and boarding?

Nope...

Notta

Why would we repratriate a criminal this is ridiculous

Thanks but no thanks. Why should we incur costs to house this flake in a Canadian prison.

Of course he wants to come here. Word is out that Canada's Parole Board is the most lenient in the world! Thanks to the approach of the ultra-soft-on-crime JustinTrudeau !!

No way. How bout and upgrade to Guantanamo bay

If he wants to go to another prison in another country I would like to suggest Guatemala.

On tax payer expense, forget it.

Of course he does...prison in the states is worse than canadas prisons

No

So we tax payers can pay from him here? Nah. You stay there.

It’s the risk of committing a crime in the US.

Nope he was committed of a crime there, so serve there. And why does he have a “new” wife. Isn’t he in prison? Wife of convenience?

Of course he does, because in Canada he'd be paroled by now.

Let him ROT there!!!!

As he should. Guilty by association isn't a crime in Canada.

Ah nope...

America failing does not mean we are doing anything right. There’s nothing botched about it. Trump has done far more than Justin, who posts selfies from his home office while allowing people on flights from high risk areas to walk into the country, with a suggestion to self quarantine. Wow every Canadian news outlet concentrating on US presidents performance, how about reporting about Canada, I know it's a novel thought & you have to spin stories to deflect from PM in exchange for government funding but come on
