The Canadian military is still determining how to raise the wreckage of a military helicopter that crashed into the Mediterranean Sea last week, Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan said Thursday.

The crash killed six members of the Canadian Forces, though the remains of only one, Sub-Lt. Abbigail Cowbrough, have been recovered.

"What you must know is that when that investigation is complete, or when it's appropriate in the judgment of the , the families will be told first. Unadulterated, told exactly what they've got," Vance said. "And then the public will be told. And so I know there's great interest in speed here. We're more interested in accuracy. There's nothing self-evident about a crash.

He said Thursday that the emphasis immediately after the crash was on seeking survivors, which was why the operation was first labelled a "search and rescue," though it later came to be called a recovery.

I do not care what you do MIN Sajjan get those children of Canada BACK into the arms of their families

Its called a balloon.

The military brass needs to reconcile the long delay in making the incident public and in misrepresenting it as a missing aircraft when, as we know now, there were numerous witnesses who saw it crash into the sea.

Canada has some of the best deep water divers in the world, we might have to employ the private sector to get it up.

Divers, with air bags, fill the air bags when you get diving to the wreck, float to the surface, hook it up to cables on another chopper, drop off on shore, disassemble and load into crates. Done. HarjitSajjan whatever the hell you do don't get the military procurement department involved. They could not find their own ass using both hands. You need to know the cause before 10 years has gone by.
