It's the 12th medal overall for Canada and second this week for Masse. The 25-year-old from LaSalle, Ont.

, also claimed silver in the 100-metre backstroke Monday to upgrade the bronze she earned in that event at the 2016 Rio Games.Masse led seemingly right from the start until the last 50 metres when McKeown, who also won gold in the 100-metre backstroke, picked up the pace and leapfrogged ahead during the final stretch.
