MONTREAL — Canadian ice dancers Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier placed third in the rhythm dance Friday at the world figure skating championships. Toronto's Gilles and Poirier of Unionville, Ont., scored an 86.

MONTREAL — Canadian ice dancers Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier placed third in the rhythm dance Friday at the world figure skating championships.

Defending champions and 2022 Olympic gold medallists Madison Chock and Evan Bates of the United States finished first with a season-best 90.08 ahead of Italy’s Charlene Guignard and Marco Fabbri . Montreal's Laurence Fournier Beaudry and Danish-Canadian partner Nikolaj Sorensen placed 10th after Fournier Beaudry stumbled during their twizzles.
