The top five banks in Canada have stopped advertising with Facebook, joining a global boycott in protest of the social media giant’s approach to hate speech on its platforms.
Stop Hate for Profit, a coalition of advocacy groups including the Anti-Defamation League and the NAACP, is leading the boycott campaign, urging businesses “to hit pause on all advertising spend on Facebook properties in July.” “While Facebook claims to support ‘free speech,’ in actuality, they are allowing hate speech to run rampant,” NAACP said on its website last week.
Meanwhile Twitter, Facebook’s competitor, decided to add a disclaimer when Trump posted the same comment in a tweet, noting that the message “violated the Twitter Rules about glorifying violence. However, Twitter has determined that it may be in the public’s interest for the Tweet to remain accessible.”
So hypocritical, These companies all deal with communist countries like China in particular who I believe are violating their. agreement signed with Britain with the situation in Hong Kong. Pretty sure they are stamping out freedom their. I don’t see any boycotts going on there
So happy that our benevolent banks are taking a stand against free speech.
Get woke go broke, although doesn't apply to the banks when we have no options.
Canadas big 5 banks have so much integrity 🙄
Good, I was getting sick of seeing all of their woke ads anyways. Pride this pride that, black this black that, it was nonstop indoctrination.
CPC_HQ PierrePoilievre anything we can do about this? Doesn't seem right that our banks who get special treatment and $$$ from our government can put their weight together and pull ads from FB in an attempt to shape the advertising market. It's not the banks job to be sjw
Good riddance. Stay out Giant wanking bankers bail themselves out on public money, then turn around wanting to control people's brains Break them up
