Canada handled key aspects of the COVID-19 response better in the first two years of the pandemic than most G10 countries, according to a new study by researchers from the University of Toronto, Unity Health Toronto and St. Michael's hospital.

The countries — including Canada, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States — were chosen due to similarities in their economic and political models, per-capita income levels and population size.

"Given all of that, the burden of the pandemic we experienced in Canada was probably lower than many other countries, and it was probably related to the engagement we had with things like vaccination and the restrictions that were experienced here." Canada's rate of COVID-19 deaths was also second-lowest among countries included in the study, at 919 deaths per one million, as was its, which incorporates the number of deaths during a period of crisis like the COVID-19 pandemic compared to the expected number of deaths in nominal conditions. Only Japan's COVID-19 death and excess mortality rates were lower, despite the country's lower vaccination rates, less severe restrictions and older population.

While it might be tempting to assume Canada's weak GDP growth was the result of public health restrictions including retail closures and restrictions on public gatherings, Razak cautioned that GDP is affected by a complicated range of factors across many different sectors.

Trudeau will tell, they printed boat loads of money to save people, but in reality, they don't know where most of the money went, so run BOGUS studies to try and justify their downloading of debt. Canadians are in DEBT!

By money printing, making life less affordable and creating a society more divided than ever I totally agree.

Wow one story one week is how bad our Canadian healthcare is when the story is about Ontario only yet that is Canada. Now it’s how good it is compared to other countries. You don’t know if you should crap or get off the pot! No wonder you’re not trusted by Canadians!

Not true

WTF? The bs media is unbelievable.

Oh please!! And still you lot are in fear over there where the rest of us are getting on with life!!

So Canada's strategy was not optimal. Severe restrictions were not necessary: 'Only Japan's COVID-19 death and excess mortality rates were lower, despite the country's lower vaccination rates, less severe restrictions and older population.' cdnpoli

By what standards? Going into the most debt by printing the most money? Locking everyone down for 2 years causing a massive spike in depression. Suicide. Drug addiction. Domestic abuse. Ya we really outperformed other countries. Lol what a joke

Yep !!!! Money 💰 🤑 !! Nurses got at least 5k Bonus (and a lot more overtime) 800 K salary

One of my fave public health policies was offloading COVID + patients into nursing homes. Many elderly died! Yippee! Then the terror campaign was sublime. Incredibly well done, not to mention 1,000’s of jobs lost for declining COVID jabs, look at service levels today! canada

CTV to bad can not be trusted to 1 sided in its views

A smaller population and much larger country might have helped; and some countries like Italy and Japan likely have more older people. Blah blah blah.

It must have really hurt you to have to report this. No doubt, you peppered your reflections with typical anti government invective; and ignored that conservative Premiers took the opportunity to steal billions from their constituents.

Study made by Liberal Party

Great news everyone, we did it, back pats all around! “Fahad Razak is Scientific Director and Arthur Slutsky is a member of the Ontario COVID-19 Science Advisory Table” 🙄

Canada is a disaster right now. The authoritarian response was terrible and costly.

Good morning. Yet another fictional headline brought to you by:

Liberal pump piece.

And Ontario led the pack within Canada. Yet the media worked hard to say otherwise.

Conservative response: 'Oh, look, a messenger! Quick, shoot it!'

Including 2020 where 38 million people didn't die of Covid, with no 'vaccine' and no access to HCQ and Ivermectin.

So the study is conducted by someone from the covid advisory table? What's he going to say? We did a crap job? Of course he's going to pat himself on the back. Look around, this country is in ruins from 2 years of lies and corruption

I feel sorry for the others since we did such a bad job...

'Dr. Fahad Razak, who co-authored the study, also serves as scientific director of the Ontario COVID-19 Science Advisory Table.' More pat ourselves on the back models..... No bias whatsoever

the way we did it was called 'trying'

SOMEBODY give DonMartinCTV a 'heads-up'! This is going to be a 'really tough one' to forge into a nail for use at 'Trudeau's Crucifixion'. But, if anyone can do the job, it's Don Martin! (somebody put RobertFife on standby & let EvanLSolomon know what's coming!) cdnpoli

By what measure? Printing money per capita?

Oh look. More regime propaganda. Things are worse than they've been in years.

What a Load of Rubbish.

Yea in compliance....

True. It really outperformed.
