Effective immediately, Canada’s airspace is closed to all Russian aircraft operators. We will hold Russia accountable for its unprovoked attacks against Ukraine.Russia’s flagship carrier Aeroflot operates multiple flights per day through Canadian airspace en route to the U.S. and beyond. It is a critical route for the airline.

Western carriers routinely fly over Russia — the largest country on earth — en route to Asia and the Middle East, although passenger aircraft are currently steering clear of Ukraine and parts of Belarus and western Russia. In a tit-for-tat response, Russia has banned commercial flights from countries such as the U.K., Poland, Bulgaria and the Czech Republic that have banned Russian flights from their airspace.Share this Story:

Russia is a fuel pump. The west needs to stop buying oil and gas from Russia! Sure it will be expensive, but it's better than WWIII isn't it. Sure that much is going on behind the scenes and we hope it works.

Not sure a good idea. What if many Russians are trying to get to safety via Canada air space?

The appearance of doing something and actually, doing something to aid the Ukrainians is to different things, sanctions and closing air space does nothing to aid those innocent civilians caught up in this war. Boots on the ground for defence and protection is what’s needed

Great move but to late to stop Putin destroying Ukraine. Time to drop NATO troops in the center of Kyiv.
