“We we know how important that customer experience is to the customer,” she said. “And we want to make sure that we have the courteous responsible drivers that make a transit bus operator great.” Transit says it needs 800 operators to bring its level of service back to pre-pandemic levels, and to reduce the strain on current employees as they cover for staff vacancies, vacation and sick time.

“The current operator compliment is working additional hours that they normally would not have to work,” said Fleming. “There are some advantages to that for them because they do get paid overtime. But eventually there is burnout. So we want to make sure that we get ahead of this and increase our team member complement as soon as possible.”

The city is planning to revamp its Route Ahead transit strategy with a new focus on frequency along its main routes. The goal is to have service every 10 minutes or better, 15 hours per day, seven days per week.

More officers on the way as Calgary Transit safety concerns are raised at town hall meetingResidents in Kensington attended a town hall meeting Monday night to vent concerns with city officials and law enforcement surrounding public safety on transit and in the community. So, here's calgarytransit peace officer Sgt Ian Steward claiming they have 'good strategies...in extreme cold weather'. Yeah, like removing doors at CTrain platform shelters to freeze people out, and try to stick them in unsafe and overcrowded shelters. Ummm... There are more than enough spaces in our many types of shelters for these folks to stay in. However, most of these shelters have some basic rules for safety, respect etc…many people don’t want to follow the rules even if it it just for a few hours at a time! In Calgary the rights of the drug addicted homeless violent angry displaced individuals far outweigh the rights of citizens

Eau Claire Market to be demolished for Calgary's Green Line transit projectThe City of Calgary says it has reached an agreement in principle for a key part of the city's Green Line transit project that has put a definitive end date to the Eau Claire Market shopping centre. The question that should be asked, is, who are the developers who will build condo towers on the site, and, how were they chosen? Hmmmm .... hailzbronson Loss of an Icon. Loved that place as Sous Chef at Cajun Charlie's- so sad to see the city made no effort to preserve what was a cultural landmark of fun and life.
