The building, located in the East Village neighbourhood, was completed on Nov. 1, 2018, to provide a commuity space for the city’s diverse residents. “It’s been very popular, very busy since we opened the doors at 9 a.m. this morning and activities are going on until 4 p.m. today,” said Steven Dohlman, events and program partnership lead at the Calgary Public Library, on Saturday.Mary Kapusta, director of communications and engagement at the Calgary Public Library, said the library is more than a space for people to read and check out books for free. It is also an essential service.
