Ottawa residents will learn about how the city of Ottawa intends to spend their tax dollars this week, as the 2023 draft budgets are presented at Ottawa City Hall.

Ottawa Public Health, the Ottawa Public Library Board and the Ottawa Police Services Board will table their draft budgets, before city staff table the full 2023 city of Ottawa draft budget on Wednesday.

Board chair Catherine Kitts is already raising concerns about capping the budget envelope at a 2.5 per cent hike for Ottawa Public Health. Kitts says that while Ottawa Public Health still focuses on COVID-19, it must address other needs in the community. Kitts says she would like to see the Ontario government increase funding to help OPH respond to the needs of the community.

Kitts says the Ontario government has committed to covering "extraordinary costs" related to the COVID-19 response into 2023.

The role of city council should be 100% transactional. Just keep the roads in the best condition possible ie snow removal, fix pot holes etc etc. Ignore councillors with God complexes who want to social engineer society to death. They only make things worse.

new mayor campaigned on a promise that included service cuts by City Hall, just remember that y'aII that voted for him, elections have consequences

Still waiting for a budget proposal set at 0% increase. Will this ever happen, ever _MarkSutcliffe ? (Obviously not this year)

This city needs more paramedics and police desperately. Wait times for the paramedics is now hours and same with the police. We're turning into an American city with lack of service from emergency services.

How about fixing the roads properly.

And _MarkSutcliffe thinks it's a good idea to throw more money away cops when the city can't even handle basic snow removal.
