Eight people are facing dozens of charges, including a Brooklin resident, after an OPP-led investigation into a drug trafficking ring in Thunder Bay.

The OPP-led Provincial Joint Forces Guns and Gangs Enforcement Team launched an investigating into a multi-jurisdictional drug trafficking network back in January. They carried out three search warrants in the south end of the city May 30 and seized the following items:One 31 round high-capacity magazine with 11 rounds of ammunitionApproximately 300 grams of suspected crack cocaineEight people were arrested. Six were remanded into custody, including the Brooklin resident, while two were released from custody.

Shemar Ahmed-McDonald, 27, of Brooklin is charged with possession of weapons for a dangerous purpose, contrary to section 88 of the Criminal Code , unauthorized possession of a firearm, contrary to section 91 CC, knowledge of possession of an unauthorized firearm, contrary to section 92 CC, careless Storage of a firearm, contrary to section 86 CC, possession of prohibited device, contrary to section 92 CC, possession of proceeds in crime under $5,000, contrary to section 354 CC, possession for...
