Christian Yelich inked his nine-year, $215 million deal in early March, less than a week before sports shut down. The Brewers star knows how fortunate that timing was.

Yelich’s deal was finalized before the loss of revenue from Major League Baseball’s shortened season and labour unrest created at least some uncertainty about the game’s financial future.

Yelich had two years remaining on his contract, plus a team option for 2022, before agreeing to the deal that could keep him in Milwaukee for the remainder of his career. The 28-year-old has emerged as the face of the Brewers since they acquired him from the Miami Marlins in January 2018. “You’re going to have guys with different outlooks on this virus,” Yelich said. “Some will be worried. Some aren’t. But you have to be respectful of everyone’s views and you have to take it upon yourself to take all the precautions, be a good teammate and do the best to your ability. At the end of the day, it’s still an unknown. You could do everything right and still come down with the virus and you could miss up to a month.

NHL Top 8 Mock Draft: Surprise lottery creates interesting scenarios - Sportsnet.caIt's still a mystery who will pick first overall, but there's no doubt which player will go there. We do know which teams will pick second through eighth, however, and Sam Cosentino writes about how he sees those selections going. Wow, no Raymond in the top 8? Uhhh no... I'd take Drysdale over Sanderson, even before Sanderson committed to North Dakota. And I agree that Stützle is the more NHL ready player but Byfield will most likely be chosen second.
