have promoted Alex Anthopoulos to president of baseball operations and general manager, and extended his contract through 2024, the team announced Monday.

“I am very pleased that Alex will be leading the Atlanta Braves’ baseball operations for years to come,” the team’s chairman, Terry McGuirk, said in a press release. “Since he joined the organization, Alex has continued the winning tradition that Braves fans have come to expect.” The 42-year-old has served as the club’s executive vice-president and general manager since joining the organization in 2017. Prior to joining the Braves, the Montreal native spent two seasons with the Los Angeles Dodgers as vice-president of baseball operations and was the general manager of the Toronto Blue Jays for six seasons, culminating in the 2015 AL East title, which snapped Toronto’s 22-year post-season drought.

The Braves also announced that they had extended the contracts of Brian Snitker and his coaching staff through the 2021 season.

Braves Who?

Braves Congrats Alex. Well deserved promotion and extension. We miss u in Toronto. Huge!

Braves Not bad going from the mailroom in Montreal to GM of the Jays to President of the Braves. He spends a lot, trades a lot of players but still needs to win a World Series to determine his actual value. Congrats, AA.

Braves He left because Shatkins would give him control. Shatkins has to approve everything and AA was clear he wasn't going to work in that environment and left.

Braves Jays loss for sure. Oh and the fans as well.

Braves Toronto Blue Jays had the top Guy in MLB in AA but have gone cheap and have continued to bash the guy through their media sources. The Braves are by far one of the top teams in baseball and yet have a higher ranked farm system then the Jays. BlueJays ShiDavidi Wilnerness590

Braves Biggest mistake the Jays made was letting AA go

Braves Not sure why the Jays got rid of him
