Violent incidents prompted former cop Scott Mills to ask Mayor John Tory to look at reinstating the School Resource Officer (SRO) program.

over reports of chaos in the school: massive brawls in the hallway, bathrooms used for drug deals and fights, and teachers being threatened and assaulted. As the Canadian national soccer teams head to their respective FIFA World Cups, Derek Van Diest is on the scene to cover all the action. “However, as schools are part of communities, it is important that we have a relationship with police in order to address urgent safety concerns.”The TDSB emphasis on community rather than school echoes something Scott Mills said about the SRO program — that it was all about community in the beginning, and less about the schools.

A handful of cops on bikes were present in the community, they got to know the kids quite well, and they worked on intervention and prevention. As Mills put it, “we weren’t that interested in arresting anyone.”changed. Now it was officers assigned to specific schools. It was not as effective.Article content

Restore police community safety and community respect.

To rough up the bullies.

Greeters.

NONE let's train teachers with concealed carry.

There should be a liaison in every high-school. They should have additional training as a youth councillor/leader.

Role models as high priced teachers don’t want to be it Without extra pay

Fight crime!!!

Put them back!!!!

Every school in Scarborough, Toronto, Mississauga, and Brampton should have at least 2 cops on duty at all times. But that's just my opinion.

None

Are they going back to school yet!? F.F.S.

Unbelievable Here we go … CHINAAAA

Will they be in riot gear or mounted horse.

I think all high schools should have a police/school resource officer on site. Look at what's happening at York Memorial High school, it's in crisis. Officers can be a positive example in the school and may be a deterrent if needed.

Policing?

They should arrest the teens that do the pot. I saw some teenagers the other day in the alley. They must have done at least 4 pots. Unreal.

That ship has sailed.

The should not have any. Schools are a place for learning not incarceration.

They should be building trust with young people. Inspiring them.

They should come when they get called like everywhere else

Keep students safe from the thugs attending!

They should high-five kids in the cafeteria, especially after they prevent crimes and keep the peace.

Hmmmm... How about 'policing'!?

The IsTrumpTheTrudeau is not good!

Monitor the teachers.

Better role models than some shop teachers.
