“James Hinchcliffe and Sebastien Bourdais are big names in the series. They are not someone to just whisk off and forget about. It’s serious.” Ryan Hunter-Reay on Bourdais and Hinchcliffe opening the 2020 season with zero IndyCar prospects.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Sebastien Bourdais spent a day in early November helping IndyCar iron out the wrinkles on its newest safety innovation. He’d been chosen to test the new windscreen cockpit protection because of his experience, his ability to offer technical feedback and his methodical approach in a race car.

The abrupt sacking of Bourdais and Hinchcliffe, from Oakville, Ont., has made for an off-season of distasteful business decisions that has contributed to a rapidly changing landscape in a series trying to make a comeback.

“When it really burns us is when it happens so late like that, the music has already stopped, there’s no more chairs and you are left standing there.” Bitter at how the situation played out, he insisted he’s not looking back and focused only on trying to fill his calendar with more races in 2020. He’s got a shot at landing a ride for the 24 Hours of Le Mans, where’s he a previous class winner, and wants to get back into IndyCar.

Oilers mid-season report: No surprise where Edmonton sits in standings - Sportsnet.caThe standings at the halfway point are no surprise to the EdmontonOilers who are a middle of the road, fringe playoff contender — which is better than they’ve been at the halfway point in many a season past. (By EdmontonOilers) EdmontonOilers Didn't realize the Oilers were writing for Sportsnet these days. Congratulations Oilers! Spec EdmontonOilers You’re right on there is no surprise where the Oilers are standing. Their quick start gave some fans a false sense that this team could be a Stanley Cup contender but reality is they are a minimum of 6-9 quality players away from reaching that goal imo EdmontonOilers Spec I remember hearing all the time that Gretzky made players around him better. I think its safe to say McDavid does not have that gift.
