Vladimir Guerrero Jr. didn't live up to the insane hype in his rookie season. After an extensive off-season workout program, he's ready to take off in 2020. (Via ArdenZwelling)

, and “Gabby” to most — is a dead ringer for his uncle. Same long build as the lanky Hall of Famer, same wise face, even the same dreadlocks spilling out from beneath his cap.

“Yeah, I get that a lot,” Gabriel said Friday before playing an MLB game with the actual Vladimir Jr. for the first time in their lives. “Vladdy’s always loved baseball since he was a kid. And he’s always been funny.” “You know what happens sometimes when we don’t feel really good at the plate — we hit a lot of groundballs, left and right. Right now, at the plate, every time, I’ve been trying to put the ball in the air. And I have groundballs that happen. They happen in the game. That’s why I wanted to play. Right now, I don’t feel 100 per cent. But I will come out of spring training feeling 100 per cent.

He’s noticeably more broad in the shoulders and upper back, muscle he says he worked hard all winter to put on. When fans see him in his uniform on opening day, they won’t call it a transformation. But Guerrero’s certain he’s in better condition for this season than he was for his last.

ArdenZwelling Sportsnet is responsible for said hype! cramjaysdowncanadasrthroat

ArdenZwelling Nearly impossible for anyone to have lived up to the type of hype that was thrown at him. There was talk from media that he was going to hit 40-50 home runs and drive in 130 RBI’s AFTER he was called up. Insane and unfair to put those types of lofty expectations on a teenager.

ArdenZwelling Will be or could be bud

ArdenZwelling

ArdenZwelling Did you expect him to hit 50 HRs as a rookie ?

ArdenZwelling Same as last year. Old news.

ArdenZwelling So potential to be better great ! Now start working on improving your tv broadcast team. Both need to go otherwise watching the jays will be without sound. Maybe the advertisers would want to know that.

ArdenZwelling Stop being negative

ArdenZwelling The key phrase here is 'insane hype'. He ain't Superman, he's a ball player.

ArdenZwelling How’s his English

ArdenZwelling Best shape of his life szn

ArdenZwelling He's going to do so well in New York, Texas or Boston when those two idiots from Cleveland trade him for a 15th round draft pick and the promise that Derek Jeter will send them a Christmas card.

ArdenZwelling What?

ArdenZwelling yikes... this clickbait headline ain't it

ArdenZwelling I thought he did very well, had a hot stretch. Was amazing in the HR Derby. Check yourself ArdenZwelling

ArdenZwelling Pardon?

ArdenZwelling What the fuck you mean he was awesome last season.

ArdenZwelling Huh I thought he was terrific for the shit team that was around him
