Blue Jays pitcher Nate Pearson has a Grade 1 groin strain and will be “monitored closely” in the coming days, according to GM Ross Atkins.

has a Grade 1 groin strain and will be"monitored closely" in the coming days, general manager Ross Atkins announced Thursday.

Atkins said that Pearson was injured in his first spring training start Monday against the Pittsburgh Pirates. No specific timeline for his recovery has been determined yet but Atkins said"we don't expect for him to miss too much time." "Our goal and hope is that you're seeing him again here in spring training pretty quickly," Atkins added."But we will be cautious because we can and we'll make sure that that pain is completely gone before he's back on the mound. Whether that's a week or a couple of weeks or longer is too hard to say at this point."

Pearson was scheduled to throw two innings against the Pirates but only threw one after needing 28 pitches to get out of the inning, allowing one earned run. The 24-year-old is expected to be a regular part of the Blue Jays rotation this season, his first full campaign in the majors. Elbow injuries limited Pearson to only four starts and five appearances last season and he posted a 6.00 ERA with 16 strikeouts in 18 innings.

This kid is made of glass. I think he's a tad overhyped and more than a tad too fragile to rely on

😢

Hurt again,

I knew everything felt like it was coming together way too well..... 😢

Man this kid has an arm but man he is always on DL.

Players are so weak nowadays

Blue Jays option Nate Pearson to triple-A, recall Jeremy BeasleyThe Toronto Blue Jays have optioned right-hander Nate Pearson to triple-A Buffalo and recalled reliever Jeremy Beasley. Probably going to be there, until he fixes some of his delivery mechanics. If Ross Stripling struggle again, expect him to move to bullpen. Alex Manoah to take his spot in the rotation. why even call him up for 1 game if u gonna send him down cause he struggled? makes as much sense as rushing back Springer for 3 games so he can miss another month.. this management is completely clueless Good
