Springer sat out Monday's opener vs. the Athletics in what manager Charlie Montoyo said was a planned day of rest. The 31-year-old made his Blue Jays debut on April 28 and spent a few games as the team's designated hitter, recording a .200 batting average with two home runs and three RBI in 15 at-bats.
