“I think it’s a big mistake,” the president said Wednesday.

The president said easing COVID-19 restrictions in Texas, Mississippi and other states was a"big mistake" and emphasized the importance of masks.

President Joe Biden pushed back on states like Texas and Mississippi lifting mask mandates ahead of the COVID-19 crisis ending, calling the move “Neanderthal thinking.”as well as on indoor capacity in bars, restaurants and other businesses.“Look, I hope everyone’s realized by now that these masks make a difference. We are on the cusp of being able to fundamentally change the nature of this disease,” he said, citing the acceleration in vaccination efforts around the country.

He has the power to enact it himself. The only reason why the gov's did was because Trump refused to do anything regarding the Pandemic. So they did it themselves. Biden can and should reissue a country wide pandemic mask law that gov's and states can't ignore so easily.
