The Queen of Alberni is facing two sailing cancellations on Friday, Aug. 12.
A pair of Friday evening ferry sailings between Vancouver Island and the Mainland have been cancelled due to a lack of crew, according to BC Ferries. In a service notice, the company said the Queen of Alberni’s 5 p.m. sailing departing Departure Bay and 7:20 p.m. sailing departing Horseshoe Bay on Friday, Aug. 12 have been scrapped.
It comes in the wake of several cancellations and delays across BC Ferries’ fleet this summer, including two“We require a specific number of crew members on board the vessel to ensure the safety of our passengers in the unlikely event of an emergency and to comply with Transport Canada regulations,” BC Ferries said in the notice.
“The decision to cancel a sailing in these circumstances is made when we have exhausted all options to find replacement crew,” it said, noting that customers will be notified if circumstances change.
Where did all the workers go, here and everywhere? They have to have gone somewhere … did Trudeau’s government jobs poach all the servers and skippers? 🤔
BC Ferries HR. Doing the same shitty job as all the other HR departments in BC. Supply and demand works both ways. ¯\\_(ツ)_/¯
Why is there so many crew shortages on BC Ferries? Yikes.
