Over the last four years, the province’s minimum wage has steadily gone up from $11.35 an hour in 2017 as part of the NDP government’s pledge to give the province’s lowest paid workers a pay boost.“In 2017, our government made a commitment to increase the minimum wage to $15 an hour by June 2021, through regular, measured and predictable increases,” said Minister of Labour Harry Bains in a news release on Monday.
Liquor servers, who used to earn a lower minimum wage of $13.95 an hour, will now earn the general minimum wage of $15.20 an hour.
We need to get it together here in the good old usa.
Sweet. The $1500 they’ll take home after taxes, working full time, will almost pay for their rent.
It should be $32/hrs aligned with the stock market and compensation packages for CEOs and Executives
No need to tip that beautiful worker at the restaurant anymore as they will make the same wage as a clothing store worker and janitor now. They will make even more than farm labourers.

Small business has no choice but to pass the additional expenses to the consumer which means less money in people's pockets at the end of the month. Although a necessary step, not much changes in the big picture.
This still means with taxes reducing the take home amount by about 1/3, the rate is only about $10.00 hr. Plus in many jobs including large retail markets, the staff work just less than full time hours; so receive no benefits. IF the rate was increased to $20.00 hr., it would 1/2
So this mean if you made 15.00 an hour already and worked for years to get that wage your wage should be bumped up to compensate
Get ready for massive inflation. 15.20 will be like $4 per hour
How many more doughnuts have to be sold each day to make up for this addition employer expense?
