The two B.C. murder suspects used a cellphone to record a “last will and testament” on video before their death by suicide in the northern Manitoba wilderness, according to a report.

the families of Kam McLeod, 19, and Bryer Schmegelsky, 18, have been shown about 30 seconds of a video that was found on a cellphone located near the bodies in an area of dense brush off the Nelson River.

In the video clip, the two suspects described their wishes for their remains and offered a “goodbye” to family.” The police kept the duration of the video -- of unknown length -- for the investigation, according to the Star Vancouver. The RCMP declined to comment on the video, instead suggesting more details will be made available in an update in the coming weeks.

McLeod and Schmegelsky were charged with second-degree murder in the death of University of British Columbia Professor Leonard Dyck, and were named suspects in the homicides of Australian Lucas Fowler and his American girlfriend Chynna Deese. The two suspects’ bodies were found near Gillam, Man. on Aug. 7. Following an autopsy, police said the two died by suicide through self-inflicted gunshot

The RCMP should not have disclosed this. Suffice to say “There is firm evidence they committed suicide.” Now wannabes will make recorded wills an addition to their online manifestos. Stop the publicity; stop the celebration. The public does NOT need to know this.

Who the fuck cares what these pieces of shit were thinking? How about talking about the victims and what THEY were thinking when they were riddled with bullets? How about showing their lives and paying them some respect? Shame on all the media outlets for glorifying the murderers

Their cell phone still had enough battery left to take a video? Were the RCMP not able to track their cell phone location?

The media creates and preserves these kind of villains.

Hope they also apologized to the victims too. What a sick people.

Expert says it might lead to more info. Way to go captain obvious!,!!

CTVAtlantic They shouldnt get one. Not public at least. I feel for their families I do. but they shouldnt be getting the attention they are. How about talking about the victims and what incredible people they probably were.

In counting domestic-violence deaths, Canada’s jumble of rules and record-keeping doesn’t add upTo help prevent domestic-violence crimes, researchers and policy makers need a full picture of the problem – but statistical loopholes and varying provincial standards leave many deaths unaccounted for, creating barriers for change Even if those things weren't an obstacle it still wouldn't add up because it's based on the assumption that domestic violence is male on female when all the studies show that it's pretty equal between the genders Until that fact is accepted tne numbers are going to be misleading
