A statement from the ministry says the legislative changes will give municipalities and regional districts two separate but related options when a politician is either charged with or found guilty of a criminal offence.

The second revision orders mandatory paid leave immediately after a politician is charged with a crime. It says the changes are in response to concerns raised by local governments as well as resolutions adopted by the Union of B.C. Municipalities, the voice for local governments in the province.Article content

“While our hope is that mandatory leave and disqualification will not need to be exercised, these amendments will help limit disruption, maintain public confidence and ensure local governments are able to remain focused on serving their communities,” Cullen says in the statement.

What about Ecocide-al ClimateCriminals? Will bcpoli remove Them from office ?

Well that would mean the end of politics in Alberta and Saskatchewan.

MerlinofCanada As it should be. I can’t volunteer for some organizations with a criminal record check.

What could possibly go wrong? No chance that trustworthy politicians of all stripes wouldn’t seek ways to eliminate the competition…

Why wasn’t this the norm from the beginning. Politicians who commit crimes should be out. Period.

ITS ABOUT TIME...WILL IT HAPPEN I DOUBT IT...

Stunning that this isn't a Rule now. Shame on every Politician from School Trustee to Premier that's doesn't have The Decency to Accept the Fact that they Messed up and Step Aside. It's like being asked to apologize. You should know to apologize on your own.

Clean criminal record checks should be required for EVERYBODY seeking political office. Heck, I can't even be a volunteer with many organisations without one.

Or do their jobs. Or stop throwing money like the joker during the street party in the original batman. Or say why billions were hoarded, or why affordable child care was held back, or why they did nothing about the occupation of Ottawa. Anything? Im never wearing a mask again. NO enforced masking. People already have options, we’re good. I’m at home nursing a mild covid case myself, and I’ll be fine. I’ll wear a mask and isolate until it’s over, but not after. Life goes on.

Canadian airlines among carriers asking appeal court to quash passenger rights rulesCanadian airlines are asking a Federal Court of Appeal panel today to quash rules that bolstered compensation for passengers subjected to delayed flights and damaged luggage. They look and say, well the gvt doesn’t recognize charter rights so why do we have passenger rights Shocked I tell you, shocked to see Air Canada opposing anything that would compensate the passengers for their crappy customer service. Well my take on this is that they don’t wanna finish paying people for stuff that happened between 2020 and now 2022. How sad. Wait oh they’re out money gosh how sad that they are out money. While we have all been sitting around left stuck with what nothing. No money no jobs etc.
