B.C. Ferries workers to receive 7.75 per cent mid-contract wage hike

Ferries workers are set to receive a one-year wage hike of at least 7.75 per cent, said the ferry company, a move it hopes would better attract and retain workers and help prevent cancellations due to crew shortages.

Many ferry workers are also set to receive a “special increases” wage hike, including some licensed mariners who would receive up to an additional 10 per cent. Jimenez said the increase is one of the largest in the ferry company’s history and one of the biggest in the country in recent years for a company its size.
