Attention turns to negotiations with Ontario's four major teachers' unions as CUPE ratifies contract

So far, those unions have not revealed what they are proposing in negotiations or what the government has offered, a contrast to the approach taken by the union representing education workers.

The Canadian Union of Public Employees announced yesterday its education workers had voted 73 per cent in favour of the deal the union struck with the province last month, ending a whirlwind dispute. That union posted its proposals and government counteroffers publicly, while talking openly about back-and-forth salary negotiations.

The only ones stirring the pot is mainstream media

Interesting how there's nothing on how quick the new CUPE contract was ratified. Sure looks like the workers just wanted to get back to work while the the union was trying to keep the pot stirred. Disgusting reporting.

And why do you think the Teachers have been pushing for more money for CUPE? Because their starting point will be the % increase CUPE got..

the greedy unions are going to ask for a lot to get back the money they lost from their bad investment. It wont be about the members, and certainly wont be about the children.

One of the biggest learnings from the Education Workers’ deal was how little negotiating power Ontario had against the unions. The unions are committed to ‘international solidarity’ and global justice. The playing field has changed, putting the taxpayer in a zero sum situation.

Honestly I don't know what these teachers go through in their lives, but i just hate the fact that they are using kids as bargaining chips.

Cause you know that nothing will be done till the last minute...

Teachers need a better raise than 2%. I hope they get the same raise increase as Cupe.

Get ready for the Gimme Gimme group to start singing their favorite song, 'But it's for the kids'.
