The Antigonish Bulldogs captured their third consecutive Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League Championship title in dramatic fashion Wednesday night in Bridgewater.
Nick Marshall scored on a wraparound 8:55 into double overtime to lift the Bulldogs to a 4-3 victory over the South Shore Lumberjacks in Game 6 in front of a sellout crowd of 1,500 fans at the Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre. Antigonish took the best-of-seven series 4-2.Venel Campbell, who was named playoff MVP, Zachary Lorette and Ethan Twolan also scored for Antigonish.Shots on goal were even at 43-43.
The Bulldogs advance to next week’s Don Johnson Memorial Cup Atlantic junior championship in Mount Pearl, N.L. They will open Thursday, April 25 against the New Brunswick champions Kent Coyotes.
