Residential school survivor and former Northwest Territories premier Stephen Kakfwi has written his memoir, Stoneface, A Defiant Dene, published by Caitlin Press. I read about Steve’s relationships within his family in Fort Good Hope. I knew a small bit about his life with a friend of mine – his wife, Marie Wilson. At one time she was my boss at CBC in the North. Marie went on to be one of the commissioners on the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
