RCMP arrested a 57-year-old man after searching a home in Middleton in Annapolis County on Wednesday, Jan. 18. - FileMIDDLETON, N.S. — Police arrested and charged a man with child pornography offences after searching an Annapolis County home Wednesday.
RCMP searched the Middleton home after receiving a report from the National Child Exploitation Crime Centre between January and October 2022 about child pornography being shared on a social media application, according to a news release. Barrie Gordon Horsfall, 57, was arrested. Horsfall has been charged with two counts of possession of child pornography and transmitting child pornography.
He was released on conditions like not entering playgrounds, daycares, schools, swimming pools or anywhere a person under the age of 18 is present or expected to be present.In Nova Scotia, it is mandatory for citizens to report suspected child pornography, the Mounties say. Failing to report suspicious activity and materials could result in penalties similar to failure to report child abuse set out in the Child and Family Services Act.
