OPINION: Can we risk a five\u002Dweek campaign where bureaucrats steer the ship as MLAs and ministers focus on campaigning?

Bolstered by strong polling numbers and high approval levels for Premier John Horgan and the provincial health officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry, the NDP government is positioned to run the next election largely as a referendum on its management of the pandemic.

Unfortunately, that is no longer accurate, with British Columbia now having the second highest active case count per capita of any province in Canada, behind only Alberta. Recent mailers from B.C. NDP MLAs to their constituents feature Bonnie Henry prominently and seem to show the extent to which the government wants voters to judge them politically based on their management of the pandemic.

Those who favour an early election for partisan purposes will likely point to the recent provincial election in New Brunswick, which occurred during the pandemic. This is, of course, a disingenuous comparison as New Brunswick currently has two active cases and has largely contained the coronavirus. British Columbia is sadly on a very different path.

Grappling....Give me a break. What drama.

INTERESTING .. Today's Seattle Times gives pertinent info... AGE GROUPS Contracting COVID-19 AGE GROUPS DEATHS COVID -19 Why .. why.. why won't BC government ..Dr. Henry reveal info., ● MIGHT BE A WAKEUP CALL...!

Good explanation of perseveration. If everyone has a postage-stamp size intellect it is easy to fool them. The duty of the government is to teach: 187 square inches on a double page spread. Do we want to live all our lives on 1 square inch?

That is nonsense. It can be done safely.

Of course, good excuse. Like everything else. Such Bullshit. Do people understand that 99% of the BC population doesn't have the Covid. They wouldn't report it like that though because its just not frightening!

Let’s not give up on the notion of progress amidst the COVID-19 pandemicThe strides of the past show the possibilities of the future, despite the COVID-19 pandemic The idea of progress is highly subjective . What has been touted as progress in the past has lead, in many cases, to the decline in personal and societal morals and values that has resulted in the fragmented societies that we now see across the western world. Progress is overrated. Progressivism is a cult

A year of missing climate data: Researchers lament loss of Arctic research due to pandemicThe pandemic that has gripped the world is also wiping out a full field season of research in the Arctic, as researchers were unable to travel up for their regular summer research — something they worry could happen again next summer. Really? Why ? I don’t really recall any concern about disregarding how many decades of climate stats? Suddenly they’re upset about a year? Sure.. why does the govt use 1950 numbers but not any years previously? Oh ya the dirty thirties disprove global warming but.. It's okay they would have fudged the data anyway to make it look worse than it is There is no such thing as climate change. If there was we all would not be here today.
