After removing nearly all COVID-19 public-health measures in the province, the Alberta government wants to introduce legislation to prevent municipalities from imposing their own pandemic restrictions.

“We are concerned that a patchwork of separate policies across the province will just lead to greater division and confusion,” he told reporters in Red Deer.Albertans are free to wear masks, but government policy must remain consistent, Kenney said. “During the pandemic, the Alberta government encouraged and expected municipalities to pass their own health and safety bylaws based on local realities and what was in the best interest of their city or community’s residents,” he said.

A day later, Ontario lifted most COVID mandates, including by eliminating all capacity limits for indoor public places and proof-of-vaccine requirements at bars and gyms. Masking is still required, but is expected to end soon.Last year, Kenney faced heavy criticism for his pandemic policies.

Ontario confirms 18 more COVID-19 deaths; ICU occupancy continues to declineOntario confirmed 18 more COVID-19 deaths and fewer than 1,000 patients hospitalized with the virus as most remaining pandemic restrictions were lifted Tuesday. Talk about still BEATING A DEAD HORSE. Give it up already. CovidIsOver Newsflash - everyone has moved onto the Ukraine situation, which is an actual real existential threat. Nobody cares about Covid anymore. Move on. ICU occupancy declined by 18 yesterday; fixed your headline. Even without as much testing our numbers here are much higher than they were this time last year. Yet Ford doesn't think we should do the very least to protect the most people. I'll never forget this. His 'let's celebrate the go ahead and die part of the pandemic' is nauseating.
