Economic angst and the belief the province’s concerns continue to be mostly ignored by Ottawa – the key factors that led to Mr. Kenney and his United Conservative Party winning the 2019 election over the NDP – still exist.
Explaining how federal equalization works is complicated, but within the world of Alberta politics it has become shorthand for a grievance much broader than the program itself. The province has long paid more in federal taxes than it gets back in federal spending.
Although the Premier has made legal arguments that Ottawa would be forced to negotiate if Albertans voted in favour of a change, he was completely transparent this week that the referendum is almost entirely about forcing Ottawa to pay attention to his province’s issues.
Canada is broken something has to be done
It would be amazing to see Alberta separate and watch reality come crashing down around all the leftist Trudeau allies -too ignorant to understand that the social programs they hold so highly are funded by the province they treat so poorly.
Go on our own for a set period of time and then have a referendum on whether to join the US later or become a protectorate of the US- Trudeau’s Liberal view for CA and AB views do not match so why should we support something we don’t agree with. Only SK supports us - vote now
I noticed that when a province is used to being spoiled and doesn't get what it wants, they want separation. Children will be children, we all know Quebecois are the worst and they cant even speak french properly, go ask the french in France and almost anywhere else. lol
