Statistics recorded by the International Air Transport Association suggest incidents involving unruly airplane passengers are on the rise.

in London in the U.K.

"Relatively few airlines are members of IATA -- and even IATA is only reporting those incidents that are reported to them by its own members," says Philip Baum, managing director at Green Light, a company that provides aviation security training, and the mastermind behind DISPAX World.

"The -- particularly Economy Class experience -- for most airlines has gotten a lot worse over time. You're packing more people into a more stressful environment, I think you've really put burdens on flight crews that are really not fair to them," says Thomas. Nevertheless, Malis is keen to stress that extraneous factors can't explain away or validate some of the ways people misbehave on flights.

And yes, if someone starts displaying signs of drunkenness mid-flight, air stewards can deny that passenger alcohol. Paulo Alves, global director of aviation health at MedAire, a company delivering medical and aviation security solutions to airlines, suggests some travelers who feel uncomfortable with flying may use alcohol to "self-medicate."

"When people fly, they actually don't drink enough liquids to balance their fluid losses and also counter the slightly dehydrating effects of alcohol," he tells CNN Travel. "You constantly have to remind yourself that you could always be recorded at any time -- and anything you do could be misconstrued."

EASA's #notonmyflight campaign involves some 60 European airlines, airports and national aviation authorities disseminating the message on social media that bad airplane behavior won't be tolerated. Paulo Alves points out also medical conditions could be behind the disruption. "Passengers with dementia or autism may be overwhelmed by the unfamiliar in-flight environment," he says.Flight attendants may spend most of the flight handling catering and serving drinks -- but the flight crew are the last defenders, sometimes dubbed "aviation's front line.

Because flying and service sucks from beginning to end

Could be the shit security system infringing on people, the ever more cramped space, or the crying babies morons bring the planes to torture. But who really knows?

Entitlement.

Ummm cause flying unless your rich sucks?! Are they charging for water on flights yet?!

I have quit flying because of terrible customer service . Westjet the cute little air carrier with teal scarves and big smiles is now just as bad as Air Canada.

Social media

BecUse people, in general, feel more entitled. Forgetting manners, forgetting how to act in public. I see it everyday and it crushes me.

Because of the bitchy flight attendants

Because airlines aren’t happy unit you aren’t. Very stressful environment.

If sardines were alive in their cans, they’d be pretty pissed off.

Haven’t travelled a lot but I’ve always met very nice very interesting people

It’s such a selfish me first world lately, the world is devolving at a staggering rate

Leg room...it's all about the leg room.

Because air travel sucks compared to how it used to be.

We’re paying stupid prices for garbage service perhaps?

Because ppl are all entitled assholes nowadays. Look at how they drive it's like they think it's a video game

All of this plus the prison intake atmosphere of the screening process.

As the population increases so does the number of idiots.

Had a woman insist I give up my 1st class seat so she could sit next to her son. Told her to move her son back to coach with her and move the person beside her to 1st class. She lost her mind and almost got tossed off the plane. It was kind of funny to watch.

Entitlement. A lot of people think they are more important, in a bigger hurry, they’re the only one that counts and they are the only one that should be respected.

Look at the size of the cabins we have to sit in. It's in flight cabin fever.

Cause the airlines are packing em in there like sardines, offering zero included service and charging outrageous gouging money grabbing baggage fees when fuel prices are no where near where they were when it may have been justified.

The peanuts bags are getting smaller and smaller!! People are losing their minds!!

Yah when you spend hours smushed against another person, unable to move more then a couple of inches for hours at a time... tempers naturally get short

alcohol. the great hidden secret of airlines. they know it is extremely dangerous having it onboard but wont give up the revenue.

Lower the rates. Customers want “value for their dollars spent!” When flying. Companies have jacked prices, charge for every little thing possible, etc. In return, customers get overpriced luggage charges, crappy snacks instead of a meal, overpriced beverages, tight leg room, etc

Internet withdrawal

Well, some people are idiots.

My guess is stress. People are under massive pressure, their standard is falling while expectations are rising. The Economic outlook is bleak. Life is getting harder.

This is BS! I fly quite often Be on time, be respectful, don’t think you’re special and you deserve free anything. Companies are in it to make money Just remember, most of the time you’re going on a vacation!

Many reasons - smaller seats, less pitch, extra fees for almost everything, indifferent staff, flight delays, etc, etc.

Bear spray

Indifferent service, not accepting debit cards...

Because people are generally assholes who can't quite grasp the concept that there are numerous team players in an airline & that sometimes there are delays lost luggage, scheduling conflicts, and so forth. Just look at this parasite! A Daisy no less!

Consumers pay hundreds, if not thousands, to be crammed into a 76x6x9 ft box with 450 other people for hours at a time with uncomfortable seating, recycled air, and are treated poorly/ not communicated with when delays and issues arise that cost an extra fortune. It’s stressful

Because the world is going crazy?🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

Why are flight crews dealing with more unruly passengers? Because air travel is often hell. It's often like riding on the worst bus in the worst part of town. Xanax and ear plugs are the order of the day when traveling by air.

Maybe because the seats are smaller, delays are longer, they put more people in each flight with less room and they charge you for everything even after you paid for the flight. I'm surprised they don't charge to use the bathrooms.

If airlines could communicate better with customers, I'd be less of an issue. Nothing worse than not knowing what's going on...

1) airline service is getting progressively worse. 2) airline service is increasing accessible.

One word Alcohol.

Very stiff punishment will stop most of this.and I dont mean a slap on the wrist from Trudopes libreal judges ...

Peoples expectations while travelling on airlines is way to high. You want wider seats pay higher prices. You want to carry more luggage than allowed pay more. You want to interfere with the safe operation of an aircraft by causing grief with the flight crew go to jail federally.

Zero to do with overbooking, seats rejected by third world school bus companies, shitty expensive food, pay for everything as well as a ticket, rude staff at check in etc....

Many reasons - smaller seats, less pitch, extra fees for almost everything, indifferent staff, flight delays, etc, etc.

Because in this new age of protest everyone is offended at the same time that everyone is correct.

People seen more entitled and they must of missed 'Manners' class.

Because their ticket price is 2x more to visit family during the holidays.

Probably because the airlines services are way worse than before?

Passengers are treated by airlines no better than cattle. LionelMedia ClintEastwoodLA EllaCoreleone

Because people have become a bunch of self obsessed crazies

FireJessAllen

You need to ask? Society lacks discipline respect, more alcohol and illegal drug use including duh weed, more self centered!

Liberalism.

The entitlement generation is now getting old enough to fly solo

Simple: Like public mischief or civil disobedience, it will continue to increase until the reaction is swift and firm enough that the perpetrators wouldn't dare trying the same stunt again.

Service sucks...you are nickle and dimed for everything, and they are trying to cram more people into the same spot. Sardines in a can basically.

Because the flight service has become increasingly bad.
